| our saturdays usually consists of 2 basketball practices and 2 soccer games. yesterday rachel's game overlapped with basketball so we missed the practice altogether, since soccer comes first right now. also danny is the coach for her team, he had to be there. rachel is getting better each game. last weekend she actually made 2 goals. you should've seen her when she told me, she was so excited! this week she had a few close calls. my baby girl, she looked so cute out on the field. i think she's really enjoying it. basketball on the hand, is harder for her. she can hardly get the ball up to the basket but at least she's not afraid to go out there and will try to get the ball when it comes to her. we still have to work on her coordination for catching the ball and passing it. so after rachel game yesterday we had about 30 minutes to get lunch then unto ryan's soccer game. danny also had to coach ryan's team 'cause the coach was out of town. we get in line for the drive thru at KFC, long line. as we sat in the car waiting, danny thought it'd be a good time for ryan to change into his soccer cleats. where are the cleats? guess what, mama forgot them at home. we pull out of the drive-thru line, (no lunch) i go to drop off danny and ryan at the soccer field then rush home to get the shoes. remember danny had to coach ryan's team? he had to be the field or no coach. i rush home, 15-20 minutes round trip then back to the soccer field. ryan had to have his shoes before the game starts. too hard to park, i had rachel walk the shoes in while i watched her. lucky another mom from the team was there to walk her. leave rachel at the field, then i go back to KFC to pick up lunch, by now there was no line. i pick up lunch for rachel, danny and myself, (ryan already ate earlier during rachel's game), did i mention it was my 3rd time at KFC that day? so hungry i ate my snacker sandwich in the car. by the way, it's delicious, for $1.00, right now special deal, buy 1 get 1 free for the grilled chicken. i then rush back to ryan's soccer game. danny coaches, then after the game finally eats his lunch, quickly. we rush over to the gym for ryan's basketball practice which was already in progress. did i mention danny is also the coach for ryan's basketball team? finally at 3:30 we were done with our activities for the day, and what a relief. i go home and take a nap, meanwhile asking myself why do we do this to ourselves?!! the reason why i even started to write this is to mention today at ryan's baseball practice (yep, 3 sports) the coach asked a AAA baseball pitcher (one level below majors) who came to show the kids how to pitch. the guys works for texas rangers minor league but apparently is from here. when he found out that ryan switch hits (he can hit both right-handed and left-handed) he was amazed. his words were something like "he switch hits, that's great! how old is he? he's only 8??!!" he says it'd be great to keep it up, switch hitters are always picked up first. yeah right, this is not going to be a career for him. well, never say never. look at all the asians in the majors now. maybe he has a chance after all. anyway, all this encounters with professional athletes are store up in danny's precious memory bank. i'm sure he will remember them always, and remember them better than anything i ever said. sad but true. |
